Create installation media to reinstall Windows 10 via USB drive

Creating Installation Media on a USB Drive

Follow these simple steps to create installation media to reinstall Windows 10 with a USB drive:

1. Go to Microsoft website, click Download tool now. 


2. Go to file download, then double click Media Creation Tool file to start the installation. 

3. If the User Account Control window displayed, please click Yes. 

4. Microsoft software license terms and applicable notices, please click Accept. 

5. Select Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC, then click Next. 

6. Select language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) which you want to create for the Windows 10 installation media, then click Next. Choose the correct language, edition, and architecture for your PC support. 

7. Connect the USB flash drive that you want to create as a Windows 10 installation media to your computer, select USB flash drive and then click Next.

8. In removable drives, confirm and select the USB flash drive that you want to use, then click Next, and the system will start to download as well as create Windows 10 installation media. It will take a while, which depends on your computer and the internet connection.

9. The installation media has been created, please click Finish.


Boot from USB

Insert the USB drive into the computer you want to reinstall Windows on and boot from the USB drive.

Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows 10, including selecting language, time, and keyboard preferences.

Connect the USB flash drive to your computer.

Power on the computer and select the boot option from the USB flash drive.

The computer will enter Windows Setup. Choose the language, time and currency format, and keyboard or input method, Click Next. 

4. Click Install now.

5. If your computer was built-in Windows Operating System (which is a digital license), please click I don’t have a product key, Windows 10 will automatically be activated online after the installation is completed. 

6. Please select the Operating System version which you want to install, then click Next.

7. Microsoft software license terms and applicable notices, please check the box to I accept the license terms, then click Next. 

8. Select Custom: Install Windows only (advanced) . 

9. You will see the list of all partitions on your computer. 

Select each partition of Drive 0 in the list, then click Delete.  If the Windows Setup notification appears, please click OK.

Note: If you select Delete on other disks/drives, it will remove all data in this partition.

10. After reproducing step 9 to delete all partitions of Drive 0, only Drive 0 Unallocated Space should remain. Select Drive 0 Unallocated Space, then click Next to install Windows.

11. The computer will restart and enter the basic setting page of Windows after the reinstallation is complete.

12. After completing the basic settings of Windows and enter desktop, you should go to support site to download drivers.
